Achieving 9.4 Billion Won in Exports by 2025
Aiming for 30 Billion Won by 2035
Inviting Buyers from Six Countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, UAE, Thailand, and Vietnam
On September 9, the city of Pohang hosted an 'Agri-food Export Consultation Meeting' at the Lahan Hotel Pohang, inviting prominent buyers from six countries overseas.
This event was organized to support the overseas expansion of local agri-food products and to establish a strategic foothold for achieving 30 billion won in agri-food exports by 2035.
Twenty-one local companies specializing in processed agricultural, livestock, and marine products participated in the consultation meeting, introducing a wide range of items to buyers, including red pepper powder, distilled soju, traditional Korean confectionery, Korean meal kits, frozen mulhoe, and fermented gwamegi.
Some products led to immediate export contracts on site, and the companies achieved practical results by conducting customized export consultations, discussing the development of small packaging and commercialization strategies tailored to the characteristics of local markets.
Last year, Pohang exported 8.9 billion won worth of agricultural specialties, including fresh produce such as strawberries, cabbage, rice, and grapes, to 18 countries worldwide. This year, the city aims to reach 9.4 billion won in exports. Pohang plans to use this consultation meeting as an opportunity to both expand the scale of agri-food exports and strengthen the competitiveness of local businesses.
Jung Kwanguk, CEO of Cheongseul K, who participated in the consultation meeting, said, "It is very meaningful to be able to promote Pohang's excellent products in North America and the Middle East. I hope that events like this will become regular, providing continuous opportunities for overseas expansion."
Lee Hyunju, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, emphasized, "We will spare no effort in supporting local farms and businesses so they can secure global competitiveness in response to the rapidly changing international market," and added, "We will continue to provide systematic administrative support to achieve the goal of 30 billion won in agri-food exports by 2035."
