Ioniq's First Compact EV Concept Car
Dynamic "Art of Steel" Design
Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled "Concept Three," which presents a new direction for compact electric vehicles, for the first time.
On September 9, 2025 (local time), at the "IAA Mobility 2025" event held in Munich, Germany, Hyundai Motor Company introduced "Concept Three," the first compact EV concept car from its electric vehicle brand Ioniq.

Previously, Hyundai Motor Company revealed the compact EV concept car "45" in 2019, the midsize EV concept car "Prophecy" in 2020, and the large EV concept car "Seven" in 2021, subsequently launching the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 9. Through these efforts, Hyundai has established a comprehensive electric vehicle lineup spanning compact, midsize, and large segments in the global EV market.
By debuting this concept car in the European market, where demand for hatchback vehicles is high, Hyundai expects to further enhance the status of the Ioniq brand.
A Hyundai Motor Company representative stated, "Concept Three is a model that represents Hyundai's next-generation electrification journey," adding, "Based on its compact body size and the Art of Steel design language, it embodies our vision to provide mobility that is both practical and emotionally resonant."
Concept Three features an "Aero Hatch" design that emphasizes aerodynamic performance. Despite being a compact EV, it offers a spacious interior, maximizing practicality. At the rear, a lemon-colored ducktail spoiler is installed, optimizing airflow while adding a sporty touch.
The vertical tailgate further enhances interior space utilization, and the Aero Hatch approach improves both functionality and design completeness.

Concept Three showcases a strong yet dynamic silhouette based on the "Art of Steel" design language. Art of Steel is a technique that highlights the natural elasticity and inherent strength and beauty of steel materials, first introduced in last year's hydrogen electric vehicle concept car "Initium."
For Concept Three, steel is extensively applied to the exterior, visually expressing the material’s elasticity and curvaceous qualities while emphasizing both a refined impression and smooth volume. Notably, the three-dimensional volume extending from the C-pillar to the side and rear creates a powerful presence throughout the vehicle.
Where surfaces meet, sharp boundary lines further accentuate the dynamic image, serving as distinctive design elements unique to this concept car. The exterior color, "Tungsten Gray," captures the unique hue of metal materials, further highlighting the Art of Steel-inspired exterior design.
Inside, Concept Three emphasizes the beauty of the materials, creating a space where occupants can feel both physical and emotional comfort. The seats, door trims, console, and dashboard are designed to wrap around the space, retaining the original texture and characteristics of the materials, delivering a cozy, furniture-like atmosphere.
Additionally, the "BYOL (Bring Your Own Lifestyle) Widget" enables a user-centric layout, allowing all functions to be used conveniently. The BYOL Widget is a concept design that allows users to freely customize various driving functions according to their preferences, lifestyles, and needs.
Normally located on the driver's dashboard, the BYOL Widget smoothly moves toward the steering wheel when the vehicle is started, offering the driver an intuitive interface. Drivers can use various functions in a naturally accessible position, enabling intuitive control and an immersive driving experience without disrupting the driving flow.

Furthermore, Concept Three incorporates "Mr. Pix," a character symbolizing this concept, both inside and outside the vehicle. Mr. Pix is a character that transforms into various forms rather than remaining fixed, and can be found throughout the concept car. Visitors can enjoy the process of discovering hidden characters, while naturally exploring the design elements applied to the vehicle.
Hyundai Motor Company has set up a 580-square-meter booth on Ludwigstrasse within the IAA Open Space, which spans downtown Munich during the IAA Mobility event running through September 14. The booth, inspired by the Ioniq's core design element "Parametric Pixel," features a 7-meter-tall glass structure, delivering Hyundai's electrification vision to visitors with an overwhelming presence.
A total of seven electric vehicle models are on display, including Concept Three, the Insteroid concept car, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 N, Ioniq 9, Kona Electric, and Casper Electric Cross. Hyundai is also exhibiting "Hyundai AddGear," a fastening solution that allows various items to be attached and used with the vehicles, enabling visitors to experience modular accessories firsthand.
During the exhibition period, Hyundai is also offering on-site test drive programs, giving visitors the opportunity to directly experience a variety of Hyundai's electric vehicle models, including the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 5 N, Ioniq 6, Ioniq 9, Casper Electric, and Casper Electric Cross.
