Meeting Fireflies on Autumn Nights at Pyeongchon Village, Mudeungsan, Gwangju

Ecological Experience at Bandi Park and Pottery Workshop, September 13-21
Environmental Education Program Featuring Exploration, Quizzes, and Pottery

Buk-gu, Gwangju will host a firefly ecological experience program on autumn nights at Pyeongchon Village in Mudeungsan. The program will be held four times from September 13 to 21.

The event aims to provide ecological experiences and environmental education using fireflies, which are an indicator species of the environment. Its purpose is to promote the value of environmental conservation and broaden community consensus. Buk-gu has prepared the program in collaboration with the Mudeungsan National Park Office, Pyeongchon Premium Village, and the Buk-gu Carbon Neutrality Support Center.


The program is open to 50 families with elementary school children who registered in advance. Various activities are planned, including cultural performances, environmental quizzes, pottery workshops, and firefly exploration.


The opening ceremony will take place at 5:20 p.m. on September 13 at Bandi Park. Approximately 150 people, including Mayor Moon In of Buk-gu, city and district council members, residents, and participants, will attend. In addition to congratulatory remarks and cultural performances, there will be preliminary programs such as upcycled keyring making, coffee grounds planter making, and an escape room bus experience. The subsequent sessions will be held at 6 p.m. on September 14, 20, and 21 around the Pyeongchon Pottery Workshop area.
