Boat Tour of Four Wealth-Associated Attractions, Including Sotbawi and the Birthplace of Lee Byungchul
Live Streaming Available
The Rich Boat Path Tour, ambitiously planned by Uiryeong County in South Gyeongsang Province and now the most popular program at the Uiryeong Buja Festival Rich Rich Festival, will welcome tourists this year with an upgraded experience.
The Rich Boat Path Tour is a unique sightseeing program where visitors board a non-motorized boat to visit four sites brimming with the spirit of wealth, including Sotbawi, which is associated with the birth of wealthy individuals, and the birthplace of Lee Byungchul, the founder of Samsung Group.
Last year, the tour sold out quickly as soon as reservations opened, demonstrating its explosive popularity, and it received high ratings in participant reviews and satisfaction surveys.
Participants unanimously described the full-course experience as "special," as they cruised along the Nam River, surrounded by pristine natural scenery, visited wealth-associated tourist attractions, and concluded with a Rich Lunchbox made from Uiryeong's fresh local agricultural products. In particular, the in-depth commentary provided by professional guides further enhanced visitor satisfaction.

This year, the tour duration has been shortened in response to feedback that the previous 1 hour and 30 minute boat ride was "somewhat tedious." The course has been reorganized to allow for a more focused experience at key sites such as Sotbawi, the birthplace of Hoam Lee Byungchul, and the birthplace of Gwanjeong Lee Jonghwan.
Notably, for visitors unable to join the boat tour, a new "Rich Boat Play Course" has been introduced this year. The Rich Boat Play experience allows participants to ride water bicycles (20 units available) near Sotbawi, offering a unique activity on the Nam River. Anyone elementary school age or older can participate, with a fee of 10,000 won per person. Registration is available on-site for immediate participation.
Additionally, starting this year, the Rich Boat Path Tour can be viewed live in real time through the Uiryeong County Culture and Tourism YouTube channel. The county has installed a fixed live camera to provide 24-hour views of Sotbawi, allowing anyone to enjoy Uiryeong's iconic attractions anytime, anywhere.
Previously, in September of last year, County Governor Oh Taewan and department heads personally boarded a boat to inspect the Rich Boat Path Tour site. During this visit, the need for introducing a "high-speed boat" unaffected by water depth and weather, as well as the installation of a dedicated "dock" for regular operation, was discussed. There were also suggestions to add eco-tourism elements to the boat route, enabling visitors to learn about the natural ecosystem.
Uiryeong County is preparing comprehensive measures to develop the Rich Boat Path Tour into a sustainable flagship tourism resource.
County Governor Oh Taewan stated, "We will nurture the Rich Boat Path Tour as a premium tourism content representing Uiryeong," adding, "We will make meticulous preparations so that visitors can enjoy unique experiences available only in Uiryeong."
Meanwhile, reservations and related information for the Rich Boat Path Tour can be found on the official website of the Uiryeong Rich Rich Festival.
