Forum Held at 'IAA 2025' in Munich, Germany
Head of Sales: "We Will Turn Crises into Opportunities"
Hyundai Mobis has unveiled its vision to become one of the global top three parts suppliers in line with the electrification trend.
On September 9 (local time), at the 'IAA Mobility 2025' event held in Munich, Germany, Hyundai Mobis announced this vision while showcasing innovative technologies designed to lead the future mobility market.
Axel Maschka, Head of Sales at Hyundai Mobis, introduced the company's achievements in the European and global markets, real-world cases where future technologies have been realized through global orders, and strategies for upcoming future technologies during a forum themed 'The Past, Present, and Future of Mobis' held that day.
Maschka stated, "Our vision to become one of the global top three in the mid- to long-term is clear," adding, "Our proactive approach to stay ahead of the market and turn crises into opportunities will be the driving force behind this goal."
He further explained that the company aims to lead the market by focusing on three key directions: enhanced eco-friendly electrification, optimized functional integration, and maximizing user experience within the vehicle cockpit, all achieved through proactive research and development and a well-structured product portfolio.
Hyundai Mobis began its battery system business in 2009 and currently holds a portfolio of eco-friendly vehicle technologies. In particular, the company continues to develop new battery technologies to ensure 'safety,' thereby strengthening customer and market trust in eco-friendly electrification while simultaneously advancing its electrification technologies.
Through its Battery Management System (BMS), Hyundai Mobis monitors heat generated by internal chemical reactions that can degrade battery performance, while its dual cooling system prevents battery incidents before they occur. The company has also developed technology that automatically disperses fire extinguishing agents in the event of a battery cell ignition to immediately suppress fires.
Additionally, in line with the era of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV), Hyundai Mobis possesses next-generation chassis system solutions such as electronic steering, electronic braking, and independent rear-wheel steering. The company is enhancing the completeness of these products and is building an integrated solution that controls all vehicle movements with a single controller. This technology enables a flexible vehicle architecture beyond hardware limitations, operates steering and braking through a single software platform, and upgrades performance via wireless updates-key technologies for SDVs.
Furthermore, by integrating electronic technologies, Hyundai Mobis is realizing its goal of providing drivers with a differentiated experience in terms of visuals and immersion that has never been experienced before while seated in the cockpit.
The Holographic Windshield Display (HWD) showcased at this event is the world's first to apply a holographic optical film. Using advanced optical technology, it displays all vehicle information directly onto the windshield without the need for separate displays such as LED or OLED panels. Unlike conventional Head-Up Displays (HUD), this new technology offers a wide field of view without a frame, providing not only vehicle and surrounding information but also navigation and entertainment content, promising a new dimension of user experience.
To target the European market, Hyundai Mobis first participated in the IAA in 2021, unveiling its comprehensive electrification technology platform, the 'EV Skateboard.' Subsequently, the company secured a contract to supply battery systems for next-generation electric vehicles to Volkswagen, Europe's largest automaker, and last year began construction of the BSA plant in Spain, which will have an annual production capacity of up to 360,000 units.
Hyundai Mobis continues to enhance its next-generation integrated digital cockpit, M.VICS, each year, and is steadily winning global orders. The Holographic AR HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display) is also set for market launch through collaborations with global automakers.
Last month, at the '2025 CEO Investor Day,' Hyundai Mobis President Lee Kyuseok announced the company's strategy to "proactively develop differentiated technologies desired by customers, drive paradigm shifts in technology, and expand our position in the global market." He emphasized, "By combining technological competitiveness, strong execution, and speed, we will establish ourselves as a leader in mobility technology." A company representative stated, "We plan to increase the proportion of global customers in our core parts business to 40% by 2033."
