Yangsan City Expands Distribution of Electric Passenger Vehicles Through Second Supplementary Budget

Green City Roadmap Initiated
Accelerating Eco-Friendly Vehicle Distribution Policies

Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province (Mayor Na Dongyeon) has begun formulating the 'Yangsan Green City Roadmap' and, through the second supplementary budget, will further expand support for the distribution of electric passenger vehicles, which are experiencing a surge in demand.

In this supplementary budget, 460 million won in national funds and 140 million won in provincial funds, originally allocated for electric cargo vehicles with low demand, have been redirected to passenger vehicles. Additionally, the city budget for electric cargo vehicle conversion, totaling 140 million won, was combined with an additional 250 million won, resulting in a total increase of 390 million won.

By reallocating the budget from electric cargo vehicles with low demand and supplementing the city funds to match the increased national and provincial funds provided earlier this year, the number of electric passenger vehicles supported can increase from the original 1,528 vehicles (based on national funding) to up to 1,684 vehicles, allowing for a maximum of about 160 additional vehicles to be subsidized.

Accordingly, the number of subsidy rounds for electric passenger vehicle purchases, which was previously held twice a year (in the first and second half), will be increased to three times this year, allowing more citizens to receive purchase subsidies.

The third announcement is scheduled to begin on September 18, 2025, although the schedule may change depending on circumstances. Detailed information about Yangsan City's electric vehicle distribution program can be found on the Zero Emission Vehicle Integrated Website.

Earlier, Yangsan City announced the launch of the Green City Roadmap, outlining five strategic areas: climate crisis, ecological environment, living environment, resource circulation, and infrastructure development, and stated its intention to promote eco-friendly policies centered on these areas.

This expansion of electric passenger vehicle distribution is linked to the 'living environment' action plan in the roadmap and is expected to maximize the reduction of carbon emissions in citizens' daily lives.

Kim Kyunga, head of the Climate and Environment Division, stated, "Starting with this expansion of electric passenger vehicle distribution, we will further strengthen our eco-friendly vehicle distribution policies," adding, "We expect that eco-friendly vehicles supplied through Yangsan City's electric vehicle support program will travel the roads of Green City Yangsan and lead the way toward a carbon-neutral society."
