KT announced on the 9th that it has unveiled the massive media wall "KT Square" at the KT Gwanghwamun Building West Office and is embarking on creating a new digital cultural plaza in the city center.
KT Square was developed as part of the second phase of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Free Signage Zone Project. Leveraging its digital infrastructure capabilities, KT has created a media wall that combines public value and technology, establishing an open space where the city and its citizens can interact.
KT Square consists of a dual media wall with a total area of 1,770 square meters, built with ultra-high-resolution LED displays. It enables immersive content and interactive content that can move between monitors on both sides. At the top of the media wall, a structure inspired by the eaves of traditional Korean architecture has been installed, harmonizing the historical significance of Gwanghwamun with cutting-edge digital technology.
KT plans to operate a wide range of content on KT Square, including corporate content, public content, and commercial advertisements. By integrating artificial intelligence (AI)-based ICT technology, KT will provide real-time, data-driven customized information based on variables such as time of day, season, and weather. The company also aims to establish KT Square as a new landmark in Seoul by sequentially introducing media art exhibitions in collaboration with domestic and international artists, as well as public, citizen-participatory interactive programs.
KT Square is operated through KT's outdoor advertising platform 'Baro Advertising.' Advertisers can use Baro Advertising for a one-stop service, from advertising applications and real-time execution monitoring to big data-based performance reports.
Choi Kwangcheol, Senior Vice President and Head of KT’s Media Division IPTV Business Headquarters, said, "KT Square will offer new attractions for visitors to Gwanghwamun, contributing to urban tourism resources. We will continue to provide diverse content and experiences to ensure that Gwanghwamun develops into the center of digital culture in South Korea."
