A Life Built on a 10 Billion Won Donation
Sharing the Philosophy of Giving
The life of Kim Jangha, who donated more than 10 billion won of his personal wealth to establish schools and continue scholarship projects, will be brought to life once again on the stage of Korea University of Technology and Education.
Korea University of Technology and Education announced on September 9 that it will hold a "Human Academy" lecture at Dasan Hall in the Dasan Information Center on September 10.
The lecture will feature author Kim Juwan, known for his book "That's Enough Once You've Given" and as the lead in the film "Adult Kim Jangha," who will speak on the topic "The Philosophy of Sharing as Seen Through Adult Kim Jangha."
Since 2006, "Human Academy" has been a leading humanities program that invites renowned figures from the fields of humanities, society, and the arts both in Korea and abroad. It has established itself as a platform for enriching engineering-centered education with humanities and sharing social values.
In this lecture, author Kim Juwan will shed light on the life of Kim Jangha, who ran an herbal medicine shop in Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, and devoted his entire life to local education.
In particular, he will explore "the philosophy of sharing," "the essence of happiness," and "the value of community," drawing on his experiences in the media field to deliver a profound message to the audience.
The Academic Information Team at Korea University of Technology and Education organized three reading sessions of Kim Juwan's book and two special screenings of the film "Adult Kim Jangha" for students, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the lecture's theme.
Hong Jupyo, Director of the Academic Information Center, stated, "Human Academy is an opportunity for students to broaden their perspectives and grow into creative and proactive individuals," adding, "I hope this lecture will serve as a catalyst for practicing the philosophy of sharing. We will continue to work to expand humanities, social, and cultural literacy together with local residents."
