Practicing Sharing with Neighbors Together with Followers
Gurye County in South Jeolla Province announced on September 9 that Hwaeomsa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism (headed by Monk Wooseok) held a rice offering ceremony on September 6, in celebration of Baekjung (the 15th day of the seventh lunar month), to support neighbors in need and welfare facilities within the county.
The rice offerings donated this time consist of 200 bags (a total of 2,000 kg) of eco-friendly Hwajang Baeksemi rice, prepared through the devotion and contributions of the temple's followers.

Monk Wooseok, the head of Hwaeomsa Temple, stated, "I am pleased to practice sharing with our neighbors by preparing rice offerings together with the followers for Baekjung," and added, "We will continue to carry on the spirit of Buddha's compassion by consistently sharing with the local community."
Kim Soonho, the head of Gurye County, said, "I am grateful for Hwaeomsa Temple's tradition of practicing sharing with marginalized neighbors every year on Baekjung," and added, "We will make sure that your warm-hearted donations are delivered with care to those who need them most."
In addition to the Baekjung donation, Hwaeomsa Temple has continued to gather the devotion and goodwill of its followers each year, steadily donating rice offerings and monetary contributions to support the local community in partnership with Gurye County.
