The "MATTA FAIR" is the largest international travel expo in Malaysia, attracting hundreds of thousands of general consumers and travel industry professionals. Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Organization operated the Gangwon promotional booth within the Korea Pavilion, hosted by the Korea Tourism Organization, offering a variety of hands-on activities and promoting tourist destinations in Gangwon.

At the booth, activities such as making Gangwon-themed handkerchiefs, a Gangwon Foreign Tourist Taxi Quiz Show, and a tourism awareness survey were held, receiving enthusiastic responses from local residents and tourists. On the weekend, long lines formed in front of the booth, and participants were seen taking photos with the handkerchiefs they made themselves, creating a lively atmosphere.

In particular, there were many inquiries about autumn foliage tours in the fall and ski packages and winter festivals in the winter. After seeing the representative autumn foliage photo at the Gangwon promotional booth, many local Millennials & Gen Z expressed their desire to visit Gangwon this fall to take photos to post on social media. There was also a steady stream of young consumers interested in ski packages and families inquiring about winter festivals.

At the event, many local travel agencies actively promoted Gangwon travel packages, confirming strong consumer interest. The organization also held consultations with local travel industry representatives to explore the potential for future tourism product development.

Choi Sunghyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "Local consumers showed great interest in Gangwon's seasonal tourism products, such as Seoraksan autumn foliage, skiing, and winter festivals. Building on this expo, we will actively promote Gangwon as an attractive year-round destination, including in the autumn and winter."

Based on the results of this event, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Organization plan to strengthen international promotion for the "2025-2026 Visit Gangwon Years" and continue efforts to raise Gangwon's profile in the Southeast Asian market.
