Single-Family and Multi-Family Houses in Seongnam City Eligible for Entry
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced on September 9 that it will hold a call for entries for the '2nd Seongnam City Architecture Awards,' which recognizes and awards outstanding buildings that have contributed to the development of local architectural culture. The application period runs until October 24.
The 'Seongnam City Architecture Awards' is a program that selects and honors buildings that have contributed to improving the city's aesthetics and the quality of life for its citizens. It was first established last year and received a great response. The theme for this year's second edition is 'Beautiful Houses, Livable Homes,' with a focus on residential facilities.
The competition is open to single-family and multi-family houses located in Seongnam City that received usage approval within the last 10 years (from January 1, 2015 to September 2, 2025). Mixed-use buildings where non-residential purposes such as neighborhood living facilities account for 40% or less of the total floor area are also eligible. Applications must be submitted by the owner of the respective building.
A total of five entries will be selected in this competition, with one Grand Prize, one Gold Prize, one Silver Prize, and two Bronze Prizes awarded. The owners, designers, and builders of the winning works will each receive a trophy and a building plaque.
To apply, participants must download the application form from the Seongnam City Hall website, fill it out, and submit it either in person or by mail. The judging and selection of winners will take place in November, and the final winning works will be exhibited and released to the public in the lobby on the first floor of Seongnam City Hall in December.
At the 1st Seongnam City Architecture Awards held last year, the Grand Prize went to the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center. The HL Mando NEXT M R&D Center received the Excellence Prize, and Seongnam I-Park Dearban was awarded the Merit Prize.
A Seongnam City official stated, "Since last year's inaugural competition concluded successfully, we hope that many high-quality residential projects will participate again this year, further elevating the prestige of Seongnam City's architecture."
