'4,900 KRW Wine' Released... Lotte Mart and Supermarket Launch Two Ultra-Affordable Wines

Ultra-Affordable Chilean Wine "Tasty Simple" in Two Varieties
Securing 300,000 Bottles Through Integrated Sourcing
Expanding the "Tasty" Lineup with Global Winery Collaborations

Lotte Mart and Supermarket announced on September 8 that they have launched the ultra-affordable Chilean wine "Tasty Simple 2 Types (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc)" for 4,900 KRW.

This new product is based on red and white grape varieties that are widely popular among consumers. The red wine "Tasty Simple Cabernet Sauvignon" pairs well with meat dishes, while the white wine "Tasty Simple Sauvignon Blanc" is suitable for seafood or salads.


Tasty Simple is an ultra-low-priced product designed for consumers seeking reasonably priced wine amid the economic downturn and high inflation. According to the Korea Customs Service, while the value of wine imports in Korea from January to July this year decreased by 6.9% compared to the previous year, the import volume increased by 13.2%. This is due to the growing share of cost-effective wines with lower unit prices. In fact, sales of wines priced under 30,000 KRW at Lotte Mart from January to August this year increased by about 10% compared to the previous year.


Lotte Mart and Supermarket explained that they secured price competitiveness through integrated product sourcing. Since 2023, they have operated an integrated system to strengthen their procurement capabilities, pre-contracting a total of 300,000 bottles (150,000 bottles each) to secure large quantities. This volume is more than 10 times higher than that of regular brands. The wines are available at Lotte Mart and directly operated Lotte Supermarket stores nationwide.


Lotte Mart and Supermarket plan to expand the "Tasty Series" lineup. On September 11, they will launch "Tasty No.5 to No.7" in collaboration with leading wineries from around the world. "Tasty No.5 Moscato d'Asti DOCG" is a collaboration with the renowned Italian winery Fontanafredda in Piedmont. In addition, "Tasty No.6 Montperat Rouge" and "No.7 Montperat Blanc," developed in partnership with the leading Bordeaux winery Chateau Montperat, will also be introduced at affordable prices.


"Tasty" is a wine popularization project by Lotte Mart and Supermarket. Starting with "Tasty No.1 California Cabernet Sauvignon" in December 2023, they have been offering a series of wines under 20,000 KRW based on representative varieties from major wine-producing regions worldwide. A total of four types have been released so far.


Jang Sewook, merchandise planner of the Lotte Mart and Supermarket Alcohol Team, said, "Tasty wine is a series that is easily accessible to customers thanks to its affordable price, trendy labels, and user-friendly Korean descriptions. We will continue to expand the lineup so that customers can enjoy wine in their daily lives without burden, through the ultra-low-priced 'Tasty Simple' line and the 'Tasty Series' developed in collaboration with world-renowned wineries."
