The National Hangeul Museum, under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will operate eight educational programs in connection with elementary schools nationwide until November.
An artifact exploration activity using educational materials for special classes in elementary schools. National Hangeul Museum
This program was designed to help students explore the museum's collection in an easy and engaging way. For elementary school students, the museum will introduce various representative artifacts through online remote education programs such as "Hangeul Bundle 1, 2, 3." After participating in the educational sessions, students will also have the opportunity to create their own digital content.
For middle and high school students, the museum will present video content based on "Cheongguyeongeon," the first collection of Gagok lyrics in Korea, to help them become more familiar with the traditional Korean poetry form, Sijo. Students can try composing their own Sijo and use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to create images that match their poems.
For children and adolescents with disabilities, the museum will offer on-site experience programs. For elementary school students, there will be activities to explore artifacts related to King Sejong and express the shapes of Hangeul through play and creative activities. For middle and high school students, the museum will provide programs such as decorating Hunminjeongeum lanterns and participating in artifact picture card activities.
Kang Jeongwon, Director of the National Hangeul Museum, stated, "Opportunities for students starting the new semester to participate in museum education programs that allow them to experience Hangeul culture are always open." Kang added, "Through a variety of educational topics linked to the Nuri Curriculum and school curricula, we hope students will experience the infinite possibilities and value of Hangeul culture, connecting its past, present, and future."
Applications for the programs can be submitted through the National Hangeul Museum website. Participation is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
