Uiseong County Launches Citizen Planning Group to Draw Blueprint for 2040 Future City Launch of Uiseong County Residents' Planning Group in Gyeongbuk: Seeking Strategies Encompassing Urban, Industrial, and Welfare Sectors

The meeting, held on September 3, was organized to concretize the county's future vision through citizen participation rather than administrative leadership, and to broaden consensus on regional development.

The Citizen Planning Group will continue to meet every Wednesday until September 17, holding a total of three sessions. The group will devise key strategies for each major sector, including urban spatial structure, industrial development, welfare policies, and the revitalization of culture and tourism.

During the first meeting, participants reviewed the current status of the urban, industrial, and welfare sectors, and then discussed the future vision of Uiseong County together. In particular, citizen-centered initiatives were actively proposed, such as customized welfare policies that encompass both young people and the elderly, and plans to boost tourism by utilizing local cultural resources.

County Mayor Kim Jusu emphasized, "The 2040 Uiseong County Urban Master Plan is a future vision designed together with our citizens," adding, "I will do my best to ensure that citizens' opinions are reflected in policy, leading to sustainable development."

The citizen-led urban master plan is not simply an administrative procedure but a crucial process that will determine Uiseong County's future competitiveness. If a balanced blueprint encompassing urban, industrial, and welfare sectors is established, Uiseong is expected to overcome the limitations of a rural city and emerge as a new growth model.
