At a new apartment construction site in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, one worker died after being struck by the bucket of an excavator.
According to Gimhae Jungbu Police Station, at around 8:30 a.m. on September 6, a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, died at the scene after being hit by the bucket of an excavator at a new apartment construction site in Buryam-dong, Gimhae.
Mr. A was responsible for water spraying to remove dust at the construction site. It was determined that at the time of the accident, he was picking up trash near the excavator when he was struck by the rotating bucket.
The excavator operator, a man in his 50s identified as Mr. B, reportedly told police that he was unaware anyone was nearby.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on witness statements and footage from the site’s closed-circuit television (CCTV). They plan to request an autopsy of Mr. A from the National Forensic Service.
