'Art & Ideas' is an idea platform for visual arts hosted by the Visual Arts Commission of Saudi Arabia, designed to discuss the role and impact of visual arts on the global stage.
The 'Art & Ideas' forum held on this day focused on exploring how Seoul and Riyadh, two cities in Korea and Saudi Arabia, have established themselves as "visionary culture capitals" through two sessions. In addition, based on the critical insights of artists, curators, and thinkers, the forum concentrated on discussing ways to build a creative economy through visual arts within a global, multi-centered cultural framework.
This forum marks the first collaborative project to advance the ongoing cultural exchange discussions between the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service and the Visual Arts Commission that began last year. Regarding this, Chairman Jung Byungguk stated, "I hope this forum will serve as a meaningful starting point for Korea and Saudi Arabia to understand each other's cultural contexts through visual arts and to broaden the horizons of cooperation," adding, "The Arts Council will continue to expand artist-centered exchanges with Saudi Arabia and strengthen the international platform that connects and enables collaboration between artists from both countries."
Dina Amin, head of the Visual Arts Commission of Saudi Arabia, commented, "The Visual Arts Commission's first visit to Korea is an important milestone in deepening cultural dialogue and exchange between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Korea through visual arts," and added, "Through cooperation with the Korea Arts and Culture Education Service, we hope to provide meaningful opportunities for exchange and collaboration for artists and cultural professionals from both countries, and to lay the foundation for long-term cooperation that will further enrich our shared creative horizons."
