25 Lifestyle Consumer Goods Companies Participate, Including Small Home Appliances, Stationery, and Jewelry
The Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) announced on September 5 that it will operate the "Korea Design (DESIGN KOREA) Pavilion" at the Maison&Objet exhibition, which will be held in Paris, France, for five days from September 4 to 8.
Maison&Objet is a global trade fair specializing in lifestyle consumer goods and interior design, attracting buyers from around the world. It is a major international exhibition that draws significant attention from small and medium-sized Korean enterprises with design products seeking to expand overseas.
This year, the theme of the Korea Design Pavilion is "Ham." The concept reinterprets the traditional "ham," a box used to deliver heartfelt gifts during Korean weddings, in a modern context to convey the sincere messages of Korean companies to the global stage. The Korea Design Pavilion is located near the main entrance of Hall 7 (Gift & Play Hall), with 25 companies preparing to enter international markets participating to showcase a wide variety of lifestyle consumer goods, including small home appliances, stationery, and jewelry.
KIDP, together with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, provides various forms of support to ensure the successful overseas expansion of participating companies. KIDP manages every stage of exhibition preparation, from securing the venue and designing the space, to installation, product transportation and customs clearance, and interpretation. The institute also offers export consulting and training by trade experts, as well as overseas buyer matching services. Participating companies can receive comprehensive support by joining the Korea Design Pavilion for up to three years.
KIDP has been operating the Maison&Objet Korea Design Pavilion with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy since 2022, marking its fourth year in 2025. For the first time this year, KIDP is collaborating with Busan Metropolitan City, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and Gyeongsangnam-do Province to create new overseas market opportunities for regional small and medium-sized enterprises with design products.
Yoon Sangheum, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, stated, "This year, our institute collaborated with the Busan Design Promotion Agency and local governments to support small and medium-sized enterprises across the country with competitive design products in entering the international stage. We will continue to support Korean companies so that they can achieve successful results in the global market."
At last year's exhibition, 25 companies participated and achieved meaningful results. The event attracted over 5,600 visitors and 647 buyers, resulting in 749 consultations and approximately 28.7 billion won in consultation outcomes. Participating companies succeeded in entering the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the French concept store Merci, and launched collaborative products with global brands such as Starbucks. In the three months following the exhibition, they recorded export results totaling about 800 million won.
