HD Hyundai Samho Site Inspected and Safety Meeting Held
Simultaneous Safety Inspections Led by All Affiliate CEOs
"Safety Cannot Be Traded for Anything... Life Comes First"
HD Hyundai is strengthening its 'Safety First Management' across the group. Executive Vice Chairman Jeong Kisun and other executives personally inspected major business sites to reaffirm their commitment to safety management.
On September 4, HD Hyundai announced that all of its affiliates conducted on-site safety inspections simultaneously. The inspections were led by the CEOs of each company. On this day, Executive Vice Chairman Jeong Kisun visited the HD Hyundai Samho Shipyard in Yeongam County, South Jeolla Province, where he toured high-risk work sites and major facilities together with Kim Jaeul, President of HD Hyundai Samho. He also held a meeting with safety team leaders to listen to feedback from the field.
Executive Vice Chairman Jeong emphasized, "Safety is a value that cannot be traded for anything," and added, "The company will always put the lives of employees and staff first, no matter the circumstances." He further stated, "The decisions and actions of leaders have a significant impact on establishing a safety culture," and urged, "Please continue field-oriented management until we achieve zero serious accidents."
HD Hyundai has established 'Safety for All' as a core value and plans to invest approximately 3.5 trillion won in safety budgets for its shipbuilding division by 2030. The company will allocate the budget to build advanced safety systems, expand safety facilities and equipment, improve employee safety awareness, and support partner companies' safety, with the goal of raising safety standards across the entire organization.
In particular, HD Hyundai will expand 'The Safe Care,' a safety and health management system introduced last year at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, to all affiliates. The core of this system is that if any of the nine 'Absolutely Prohibited Accidents' rules are violated, measures equivalent to those for serious accidents are immediately taken, regardless of whether an actual accident occurs. Through this, the company aims to fundamentally prevent serious accidents at all business sites.
HD Hyundai plans to hold the 'HD Hyundai Safety Forum' this November. The event will bring together not only group employees but also government officials and safety experts to share the company's safety vision and best practices. Through this forum, the company aims to further raise safety awareness and strengthen the safety culture throughout the group.
