Gwangju City is participating in the "2025 Daegu International Food Industry Expo," held at the Daegu Exhibition and Convention Center (EXCO) from September 3 to 6, and is operating the "Moonlight Alliance Pavilion."
The "Moonlight Alliance Pavilion" has served as a symbol of food industry exchange and cooperation between Gwangju and Daegu since 2013, providing an exhibition space where the two cities can establish a foundation for practical collaboration and mutual growth.
This year, 12 leading local food companies are taking part in the event, showcasing a wide range of products from traditional foods to the latest trends. Major exhibits include local agricultural products such as Mudeungsan watermelon, traditional liquor, kimchi, sauces and pastes, crispy seaweed snacks with glutinous rice, confectionery and bakery items, teas, and traditional dishes from the Namdo region.
Participating companies will have the opportunity to promote their products and engage in buyer consultations, widely publicizing the excellence and competitiveness of Gwangju's agricultural and food products, as well as exploring new sales channels.
This year's Daegu International Food Industry Expo, held under the theme "EAT Food," features 225 companies and 426 booths, with a variety of programs including food product exhibitions, buyer consultations, and seminars.
Kim Youngmoon, Deputy Mayor of Culture and Economy, stated, "The Moonlight Alliance Pavilion, jointly operated by Gwangju and Daegu, is a valuable opportunity for the Yeongnam and Honam regions to join hands and grow the food industry. Going forward, the two cities will continue to work together to further strengthen the foundation for local agricultural and food products to enter new markets."
Meanwhile, the city successfully hosted the "2025 Gwangju Food Expo" at Kimdaejung Convention Center from May 29 to June 1, attracting a record 18,452 visitors.
