A female foreign traveler in her twenties collapsed and died after complaining of difficulty breathing shortly after boarding a bus at an intercity bus terminal in Gwangju. Police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the Gwangju Western Police Station, at around 9:13 a.m. on September 1, a 22-year-old French woman, identified as Ms. A, suddenly experienced difficulty breathing and lost consciousness after boarding an intercity bus bound for Wando, South Jeolla Province, at the Gwangju Comprehensive Bus Terminal (U Square) in Gwangcheon-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju.
Responding to an emergency call, paramedics transported Ms. A, who was in cardiac arrest, to a nearby hospital, but she ultimately passed away. Ms. A had entered Korea on a tourist visa on August 21 and was traveling alone.
The police have found no evidence of external trauma or foul play and plan to confirm the exact cause of death through an autopsy by the National Forensic Service.
