Touring 11 Daycare Centers and Kindergartens
Promoting Respect for Life Through Puppet Shows for Preschoolers in Pyeongtaek
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province will hold a touring puppet show titled "Love for Life Puppet Show" for about 400 preschool children from this month through next month, in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) and Mental Health Day (October 10).
The puppet show, titled "A Precious Day for Dongi and Seobi," will tour 11 daycare centers and kindergartens in the southwestern region of Pyeongtaek. The city initially planned five performances, but explained that the number of shows was increased in response to a surge in applications.
The performance lasts for 40 minutes and tells the story of the main characters, Dongi and Seobi, as they go through their daily lives and come to realize how precious their own lives and the lives of others are. In particular, the show is designed with various performances and songs that are easy for children to understand, helping them naturally develop a sense of respect for life.
An official from the Pyeongtaek Public Health Center said, "Learning the value of life from early childhood is the starting point for building a healthy society," and added, "We will continue to promote a culture of respect for life through various programs tailored to children's perspectives."
