Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province will accept applications for the "Hanging Wish Lanterns" program, a signature citizen participation event at the 25th Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival, until October 17, ahead of the festival in November.
The Hanging Wish Lanterns program is an interactive event where citizens and visitors can write their wishes and attach them to lanterns, which are then displayed at the festival venue. In particular, the lanterns will be exhibited along a 750-meter stretch connecting 3.15 Marine Nuri Park and Happo Waterside Park throughout the festival period. Up to 3,000 people can participate, and applicants can either write their own wishes or choose from recommended messages such as health, family, happiness, or academics.
Applications for the wish lanterns can be submitted from September 1 to October 17 through the notices on the Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival website or by scanning the QR code at the top left of the official poster. The participation fee is 10,000 won per lantern.
Jung Yangsook, Director of Culture, Tourism and Sports, said, "Each lantern will illuminate the festival grounds with the wishes it holds," adding, "We hope many people will join and share in the inspiration of the Chrysanthemum Festival."
Meanwhile, the Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival, which began in 2000 in Masan, the birthplace of commercial chrysanthemums, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The 25th Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival will be held for nine days from November 1 to November 9.
