Introduction of Distinctive Initiatives such as the Senior Health Management Task Force and Mobile Medical Center
Request for System Improvements Including Physician Support and Placement of Specialists
Specialized public health initiatives being promoted by Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province, such as the "Senior Health Management Task Force" and the "Mobile Medical Center," have drawn attention during an on-site visit by officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and South Chungcheong Province.
The county actively requested support for personnel and improvements to the system to strengthen public healthcare and ensure sustainable operations.
On September 1, the county announced that Lee Hyunghoon, the Second Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, along with officials from the Ministry and South Chungcheong Province, visited the Cheongyang County Public Health Center to review the public healthcare service delivery system and the progress of health projects.
On that day, the county public health center introduced a variety of health projects, including the operation status of the outpatient clinic and health checkup center, the Senior Health Management Task Force, the pilot project for the Home Medical Center, and the Mobile Medical Center.
In particular, the Senior Health Management Task Force and the Mobile Medical Center, which provide customized health management and on-site medical services for the elderly, attracted attention as unique models specific to Cheongyang County.
The county also requested improvements to the system for the stable operation of essential public healthcare institutions in the region, including support for physician personnel operating expenses, priority placement of public health doctors (specialists), and expansion of institutional staffing quotas.
An official from the Ministry of Health and Welfare stated, "It was a meaningful opportunity to witness firsthand the difficulties faced by medically underserved areas," and added, "We will thoroughly review various options to improve the health of local residents throughout the policy implementation process."
Kim Dongon, the county governor, said, "I would like to thank the officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and South Chungcheong Province for carefully examining the medical realities of Cheongyang County," and added, "I hope that the opinions discussed today will be reflected in policy and provide practical help in improving the health and quality of life for our residents."
