Namyangju City Replaces All No. 155 City Buses with Eco-Friendly Vehicles

Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Kwangdeok) announced that, starting from September 1, all 15 vehicles operating on the No. 155 city bus route have been replaced with eco-friendly vehicles, and one additional bus has been added to the fleet.

The No. 155 bus route was established on April 1 as a substitute for the discontinued Seoul No. 1155 route. It operates 120 round trips per day between Cheonghak-ri in Byeollae-myeon and Seokgye Station in Seongbuk-gu, serving as a means of transportation for local residents. However, at the beginning of the route's operation, diesel buses from surplus fleets in other regions were used, leading to continuous complaints about noise and vibration.

To address these issues, the city is gradually replacing the vehicles with eco-friendly options such as electric buses and CNG buses from August 29 to September 15. This initiative is expected not only to reduce air pollution but also to provide a more pleasant riding environment.

In particular, to prevent potential increases in intervals between buses due to electric bus charging times, the city held active discussions with Seoul City and increased the approved number of vehicles from 15 to 16.

Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated, "We decided to replace the buses with eco-friendly vehicles to ensure a comfortable experience for our citizens," adding, "We will continue to introduce eco-friendly vehicles to other routes as well to further improve transportation convenience."
