Hyundai AutoEver Secures Cyber Security Risk Assessment Project for HD Hyundai Construction Equipment

Expanding Cyber Security Operations
to the Construction Equipment Sector

Hyundai AutoEver announced on September 1 that it has secured a contract to conduct a cyber security risk assessment project in response to the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) for HD Hyundai Infracore and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment.

The CRA is a European Union (EU) regulation aimed at strengthening cyber security. It is scheduled to be fully implemented in December 2027, and all digital-related products sold or distributed in Europe must comply with the CRA. As a result, construction equipment manufacturers now require a concrete risk assessment framework to enhance the security of their products and facilities in order to obtain CRA certification.

With this contract, Hyundai AutoEver has expanded its mobility security business from general vehicles to construction equipment. Construction equipment shares similar features with general vehicles, such as drive systems and communication interfaces. Hyundai AutoEver is regarded as having secured a competitive advantage in the construction equipment cyber security sector, leveraging the expertise it has accumulated in automotive cyber security.

The core of Hyundai AutoEver's cyber security risk assessment project is to systematically analyze the security threats that major systems and networks of construction equipment may face. Hyundai AutoEver diagnoses potential risk factors in advance, thereby supporting HD Hyundai in providing construction equipment with world-class cyber security quality to end-users.

Based on its experience in the automotive cyber security business, Hyundai AutoEver also proposes security enhancement measures that comply with international standards. For example, it is preparing specific solutions to improve the safety and reliability of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment, such as ensuring software safety and preventing unauthorized access through the latest authentication technologies. Hyundai AutoEver plans to present tailored cyber security assessments and quality improvement measures for approximately 70 types of construction equipment.

Choi Wonhyuk, Head of the Cyber Security Division at Hyundai AutoEver, stated, "We will further strengthen our capabilities in the mobility cyber security business and provide customer-centric security services."
