This residents' assembly, organized by the Dasan 1-dong Residents' Association, was designed as a participatory event to share the residents' self-governance activities carried out over the past year and to allow residents to directly select agendas proposed by the village planning group. Notably, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok attended the assembly in person, further encouraging active resident participation.
The assembly proceeded in the following order: annual business report by the Residents' Association, presentations on each agenda item, and an on-site vote to select the agendas. Performances by residents' center class participants-including acoustic guitar, harmonica, folk songs, and ukulele-added to the festive atmosphere of the event.
The agendas presented that day consisted of six self-governance projects: "Living Safety + Residential Environment Improvement," "Shared Shopping Bag," "Youth Culture Festival," "Colorful Rainbow Education," "DMB in My Hand," and "Dasan Spirit, Infused in the Village." In addition, there was one resident participatory budgeting project: "Dasan 1-dong Themed Trail Elastic Pavement Construction." Residents directly selected which agendas would be reflected in the 2026 projects through preference and approval/disapproval voting.
As a result of the community agenda vote, "Living Safety + Residential Environment Improvement," "Colorful Rainbow Education," and "Dasan Spirit, Infused in the Village" received the highest support, in that order. The proposed agendas will be implemented as 2026 self-governance projects within the available budget, based on the number of votes received.
Chairman Choi Jongchan of the Residents' Association stated, "Thanks to the passionate efforts of the village planning group and the active participation of local residents, the assembly concluded successfully. We will continue to discover and realize community agendas together with residents to make Dasan 1-dong an even better place to live."
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok commented, "The Dasan 1-dong Residents' Assembly was a very meaningful occasion, as residents directly identified and chose local agendas. We will quickly implement the most supported agendas, and the city will also carefully consider those that were not selected, as they are important for the development of Dasan 1-dong and the improvement of residents' quality of life."
The city plans to continue expanding opportunities for local residents to participate directly in policy decisions through various resident-participatory self-governance projects, including the residents' assembly.
