Oh Sehoon: "Thorough Audit for Han River Bus Project... Will Clarify Any Issues"

Response to Policy Inquiry
"If There Are Issues with Company Selection, They Will Be Revealed"

Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon announced that a thorough audit will be conducted regarding the overall delays in the Han River Bus project, which is scheduled to officially begin operations in September.

On August 29, during the 332nd temporary session of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, Mayor Oh responded to a question from Lee Youngsil, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding the Han River Bus. He stated, "The first operation is scheduled for September 18, and I will ensure that there are no disruptions to operations by then."

The Han River Bus was originally scheduled to begin official operations in October last year, but due to delays in shipbuilding and delivery, the official launch has been postponed to next month.

Regarding concerns that the construction of the Han River Bus vessels was entrusted to a newly established company with no prior experience, resulting in production delays and a sharp increase in costs, Mayor Oh explained, "As the project was delayed, the staff in charge probably wanted to change the company midway." He added, "However, I was informed that switching companies would only further increase the time and costs, so they had no choice but to endure."

Mayor Oh continued, "At the time, I accepted it as a reasonable decision, but once this project is completed, I will conduct a thorough audit of the entire process." He added, "I intend to clearly identify who is responsible and how a problematic company was selected at that time."
