Yeongju City Holds Child and Youth Policy Festival Finals... Youth Policy Proposals Heat Up

Announcement of Winners in Five Categories from Logic to Benefit Awards
Youth Participation Continues to Shape Real Policy

Yeongju City announced that it held the 7th Child and Youth Policy Festival final competition at the city hall auditorium on August 28.

This Policy Festival was organized to provide children and youth with opportunities to identify community issues themselves and propose policy solutions, thereby encouraging their participation in municipal affairs.

In July, the city received proposals from a total of 11 teams (37 participants). On August 11, five teams (18 participants) advanced to the finals after passing the preliminary review, which evaluated sincerity, effectiveness, and logical coherence. The finalist teams refined their proposals through a three-day online workshop and expert mentoring, and then presented their final proposals on the day of the event.

The final evaluation consisted of five categories: Logic Award, Future Vision Award, Feasibility Award, Creativity Award, and Benefit Award.

The Logic Award went to The Flow team for "Bringing Art and Culture into the Daily Lives of Youth! Elevate Yeongju!", the Future Vision Award was given to the DPN team for "Youth Welfare Rebate System," and the Feasibility Award went to the Reborn team for "Reborn: Transforming Vacant Houses into Cultural Spaces that Revitalize the Community." The Creativity Award was presented to the Career Navi team for "Yeongju Challenge! Company Visits to Realize Dreams," and the Benefit Award was given to the Yoajeong team for "A Policy to Revitalize Local Cultural Heritage Using AI."

A student from The Flow team (age 16), who received the Logic Award, shared, "While preparing for the Policy Festival, I realized it was not just about coming up with ideas, but about considering what our community truly needs. If our opinions actually lead to real policies, I will feel incredibly proud."

Jung Kyungsook, Director of the Child and Youth Division, stated, "Through the Child and Youth Policy Festival, we were able to see children and youth develop new perspectives on their community. We will continue to provide these opportunities every year to guarantee their right to participate."

Since 2019, Yeongju City has implemented various proposals from the Policy Festival as actual policies, such as expanding the installation of fine dust traffic lights, installing CCTV cameras in blind spots, and replacing or newly installing street lights. The city plans to continue actively reflecting the opinions of youth in all areas of municipal administration.
