An event will be held in Daejeon where more than 700 scholars and experts from 15 countries around the world will gather to share the latest achievements in next-generation solar cells.

The "2025 Global Photovoltaic Conference (GPVC 2025)", jointly hosted by Daejeon City and the Korean Society for Photovoltaic Power Generation, will take place at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) from September 1 to 3.

At this conference, participants will share the latest achievements in next-generation solar cells such as perovskite-silicon tandem and kesterite, and discuss strategies for expanding applications in fields such as buildings, agriculture, floating installations, and mobility.

Daejeon City will hold the opening ceremony of "GPVC 2025" at the DCC on September 1, officially kicking off the three-day event.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Yoo Deukwon, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Daejeon City, Kim Jaehyun, President of the Korean Society for Photovoltaic Power Generation, Keisuke Odaira, President of the Japan Photovoltaic Society, and around 200 other domestic and international guests.

The conference will introduce the latest research that has achieved the world's highest efficiency in the fields of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells and low-cost, general-purpose element-based kesterite solar cells.

In addition, technology trends and development strategies for applying solar power to various environments such as buildings, agriculture, floating installations, and automobiles will be intensively discussed.

Yoo Deukwon, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, said, "It is highly meaningful to host the largest photovoltaic academic conference in Korea here in Daejeon. I ask for your interest and support for the successful hosting of the 9th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC), the Olympics of the solar power field, which will be held in Daejeon on November 15 next year."
