On the final day of the Democratic Party of Korea workshop held at Paradise City Convention City in Jung-gu, Incheon, on August 29, Party Leader Jeong declared, "Let us strengthen our resolve with this slogan, reflecting our determination to complete reforms, stabilize people's livelihoods, and ensure the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration." Floor Leader Kim Byungki delivered a concise message, saying, "We must prove ourselves through results."
The Democratic Party workshop, which took place over two days starting the previous day, had a festive atmosphere befitting the ruling party. On the first day, both Leader Jeong and Floor Leader Kim emphasized the need to swiftly pursue reform tasks during their opening remarks. Lawmakers welcomed the workshop as the ruling party, chanting slogans such as "The Democratic Party delivers on people's livelihoods and democracy," "The Democratic Party leads Korea's reforms," and "The Democratic Party drives economic growth."
Officials from the Presidential Office and the government also attended the Democratic Party workshop, underscoring that the party, government, and Presidential Office are united as one team. In particular, they spoke with one voice to dispel any misunderstanding that there might be differences between the party and the government regarding prosecution reform. Minister of Justice Jeong Seongho stated, "There are no disagreements." When asked about his thoughts on which ministry should oversee the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, he replied, "I have no personal opinion." Woo Sangho, Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, also commented, "The best approach is to avoid inconveniencing the public. If consensus cannot be reached, it is expected that an amendment to the Government Organization Act will be smoothly arranged before the end of September."
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Jeon Jaesu, speaking with reporters, discussed the relocation of the ministry to Busan and emphasized the role of the National Assembly. He said, "There are some challenges, but preparations for the relocation of the ministry are progressing step by step until December 31," and added, "The relocation of HMM's headquarters to Busan and the establishment of the Southeast Region Industrial Investment Corporation are also proceeding simultaneously." Minister Jeon identified the establishment bill for the Southeast Region Industrial Investment Corporation and the bill for the establishment of a maritime court as key legislation that must pass during the regular National Assembly session.
