Since 1995, the Trade Academy, an affiliate of the Korea International Trade Association, has operated the "Trade Master Program," a training course for nurturing young trade professionals, and has produced approximately 3,900 trade talents over the past 30 years. In this 47th Trade Master Program, a "Marketing Project Presentation Contest" was introduced in collaboration with POSCO International. This collaboration was designed to help students of the Trade Master Program, who aspire to become the next generation of trade professionals, accumulate practical experience and to develop the training program into a process that addresses the mismatch between companies and job seekers.
Over the course of two months, the students participated in POSCO International's "Large-Medium-Small Joint Export Project," which supports small and medium-sized exporters in pioneering overseas markets, and gained hands-on experience in marketing work. The Large-Medium-Small Joint Export Project is a sub-program of the specialized trading company initiative operated by the Korea International Trade Association and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It supports the overseas market entry of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises by leveraging the overseas distribution and export networks of large specialized trading companies. In particular, the students not only analyzed the products of the target small and medium-sized enterprises, but also developed marketing strategies for overseas expansion, including promising market research, identifying potential buyers, and drafting export proposals. POSCO International led the entire process of the project, from planning to evaluation.
Outstanding students selected through the Marketing Project Presentation Contest, which was held alongside the graduation ceremony, will be given the opportunity to participate in the Osaka Export Consultation Meeting hosted by POSCO International in September, where they will meet overseas buyers in person and gain experience in making business proposals.
Jung Heecheol, Secretary General of the Trade Academy at the Korea International Trade Association, commented, "By experiencing the work know-how of large companies with a high level of expertise, the students were able to accumulate practical experience on a solid theoretical foundation," and emphasized, "We will continue to contribute to resolving job mismatches through collaboration with companies in the future."
Meanwhile, the Korea International Trade Association is currently recruiting students for the 48th Trade Master Program, which will begin in October, and further details can be found on the Trade Academy website.
