The KOSPI finished at 3,187.16, up 7.80 points (0.25%) from the previous trading day.


On this day, the KOSPI remained range-bound without a clear direction. It opened at 3,185.87, up 0.20% from the previous session, but turned downward in early trading due to net selling by foreign and institutional investors, falling as low as 3,165.77 during the session. However, as institutional net selling gradually decreased, the index maintained a slightly positive trend in the afternoon.


By investor type, foreign investors recorded a net sale of 204.1 billion won. In contrast, individuals and institutions were net buyers, purchasing 63 billion won and 27.7 billion won, respectively.


By industry, transportation equipment and parts rose by 2.85%. Financials and construction also posted modest gains. On the other hand, metals declined by 1.00%, while telecommunications and chemicals also saw slight decreases.


Among large-cap stocks, Samsung Electronics ended the session at 76,000 won, up 300 won (0.43%) from the previous day. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries surged by 11.32%, while Hanwha Ocean and Shinhan Financial Group also rose by 1-2%. In contrast, SK Hynix closed at 260,000 won, down 1,500 won (0.57%) from the previous session. LG Energy Solution, Celltrion, and NAVER each fell by more than 1%.


On the KOSPI, 336 stocks advanced, including NK, which hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower limit, 523 stocks declined and 74 remained unchanged.


The KOSDAQ closed at 801.72, up 0.06 points (0.01%) from the previous session.


By investor type, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers, offloading 96.6 billion won and 10.5 billion won, respectively. Individuals were net buyers, purchasing 119.3 billion won.


By industry, transportation equipment and parts rose by 1.45%. Electrical and electronics, pharmaceuticals, and metals also posted modest gains. In contrast, entertainment and culture fell by 1.23%, while other manufacturing and general services each dropped by more than 1%.


Among large-cap stocks, Alteogen closed at 423,000 won, down 19,500 won (4.41%) from the previous session. HLB and Classys also fell by more than 1%. In contrast, Samchundang Pharm rose by 3.74%, while Peptron and Hugel gained 2.23% and 1.10%, respectively.


On the KOSDAQ, 640 stocks advanced, including four stocks such as Abko and Quratis that hit the upper price limit. Without any stocks hitting the lower limit, 975 stocks declined and 116 remained unchanged.
