Jeonnam Province Exempts Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees for Special Disaster Areas Hit by Heavy Rain Jeollanam-do will exempt rental fees at agricultural machinery rental centers for farmers in special disaster areas affected by the heavy rains in July until the completion of damage recovery. Provided by Jeonnam Province

On August 27, Jeonnam Province announced that it will exempt rental fees at agricultural machinery rental centers for farmers in special disaster areas affected by the heavy rains in July, in order to alleviate their financial burden until the completion of damage recovery.

The agricultural machinery rental program is designed to enhance farming efficiency and reduce costs for farmers by providing machinery rentals to those who cannot afford to purchase their own equipment.

This measure is a follow-up to the government's response to the heavy rain damage that occurred from July 16 to 20. In addition to Damyang County, which was already designated as a special disaster area, 12 more locations have now been added to the list.

The newly designated special disaster areas are Naju City, Hampyeong County, Daap-myeon in Gwangyang City, Ganjeon-myeon and Toji-myeon in Gurye County, Iseo-myeon in Hwasun County, Gunnam-myeon and Yeomsan-myeon in Yeonggwang County, and Jido-eup, Imja-myeon, Jaeun-myeon, and Heuksan-myeon in Shinan County.

Farmers affected in special disaster areas can report their damages at their local administrative welfare centers. The city or county will then verify the damage through the National Disaster Management System (NDMS) and fully exempt the agricultural machinery rental fees.

The fee exemption will remain in effect until damage recovery is complete. The specific types of machinery and the exemption period may be adjusted depending on the operating conditions of each city and county rental center.

Yoo Deokgyu, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, "This exemption of rental fees will provide practical help to farmers who suffered significant losses due to the recent heavy rains," and added, "We will actively support the reduction of financial burdens for affected farms and ensure that recovery efforts proceed swiftly."

Currently, Jeonnam operates a total of 75 agricultural machinery rental centers across 21 cities and counties. Since April 2020, Jeonnam Province has been implementing rental fee reductions, and this policy has been extended until the end of December to further ease the burden on farmers.
