Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province is recruiting participants nationwide for the "Axe Performance," the main program of the "2025 Gimpo Dodam Festival," which will be held on September 27. The Dodam Festival is the only axe-themed festival in the country and attracted 40,000 participants last year, gaining widespread popularity.
The "Axe Performance" is a modern reinterpretation of the historical proclamation "Jibusangso" by Jubong Jo Heon. In this event, participants carry their own handmade axes and shout out powerful messages, heightening the excitement of the festival.
This performance will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 27 at the Art Center Plaza in Gimpo Art Village. Anyone can participate as an individual or as part of a team of two or more, including children, teenagers, families, and friends.
Participants are required to bring their own axes made from safe materials or recycled items such as paper, plastic, or Styrofoam, and will join a variety of programs including a parade and a "pot-breaking" contest.
Participation is limited to the first 200 applicants. Applications can be submitted online via QR code from August 27 to September 12. Selected participants will receive prizes, and there will also be a gift event through a drawing on the day of the festival.
