Seungil Jeon, Chairman of Gwangju Seo-gu District Council, Receives "Korea Local Legislative Service Award"

Legislative Activities Centered on Residents and the Field Recognized

Seungil Jeon, Chairman of the Gwangju Seo-gu District Council, received the "Korea Local Legislative Service Award" at the 267th Provincial Representative Meeting, which was hosted by the Korea Association of City, County, and District Council Chairs and organized by the Gwangju District Council Chairs’ Association on August 26.

The Korea Local Legislative Service Award is presented to local council members who have demonstrated exemplary achievements in the development of local autonomy, community harmony, and contributions to local society. Chairman Seungil Jeon was recognized for his active efforts in the field to improve residents’ quality of life and address pressing local issues.

In particular, he has realized a "field-oriented, communicative council" by directly participating in residents’ assemblies, residents’ autonomy meetings, and local organization events, listening to residents’ opinions, and reflecting them in legislative activities.

He has also earned strong trust from residents by responding swiftly to local issues, including supporting the revitalization of traditional markets and the recovery of local economies, strengthening support for seniors, youth, and children, and developing policies to create safer neighborhoods.

Chairman Jeon stated, "As a council member, I have simply been doing what I ought to do for the residents, so I am honored and grateful to receive such a significant award." He added, "Taking this award as an opportunity, I will listen even more humbly to the voices of residents and do my utmost to ensure that the Seo-gu District Council carefully reflects the diverse needs of the community and brings about meaningful change."

He continued, "Even small changes can bring great vitality to a community. Based on the belief that 'the answer is in the field,' I will continue to stay close to the residents and pursue practical legislative activities that create changes people can truly feel in their daily lives."
