Expectations Rise for Recovery of Livelihoods and Revitalization of the Local Economy
with Expanded Support for the Yeoju Sarang Card
Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on August 26 that it will expand incentives for the 'Yeoju Sarang Card' starting in September, in line with the government's policy to expand local currency programs.
The regular incentive rate will be increased from 7% to 10%, while the monthly purchase limit and holding limit per person will remain at 2 million won. Yeoju City offers the highest limit among cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province, and the maximum benefit an individual can receive by charging 2 million won per month is 200,000 won.
Despite financial difficulties caused by decreased tax revenue, Yeoju City decided to expand the incentives to boost consumption during the upcoming Chuseok holiday, support livelihoods, and revitalize the local economy.
Lee Chungwoo, Mayor of Yeoju City, stated, "In line with the government's policy to expand local currency, Yeoju City also plans to move forward together. We are working to support incentives and develop various policy initiatives so that the 'Yeoju Sarang Card' can serve as a catalyst for revitalizing livelihoods and the local economy. We will do our best to ease the financial burden on citizens and boost sales for small businesses to help revitalize the local economy."
