The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour is experiencing a surge in prize money increases.

The KB Financial Star Championship, a major tournament, now offers a total prize pool of 1.5 billion won, making it one of the highest-paying events on the KLPGA Tour alongside the Hana Financial Group Championship, Hite Jinro Championship, and BC Card·Hankyung Ladies Cup. The winner’s prize has also increased from 216 million won last year to 270 million won this year. With the increase in prize money, the number of participating players has also risen from 108 to 120.
This year, there are an unusually high number of tournaments on the KLPGA Tour that have raised their prize money. The Blue Canyon Ladies Championship, NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, McCall·Mona Yongpyong Open, Doosan Match Play, and S-Oil Championship all decided to increase their prize money compared to last year before the season began.
The E1 Charity Open, KG Ladies Open, OK Savings Bank Eutman Open, BC Card·Hankyung Ladies Cup, and KB Financial Star Championship increased their prize money ahead of the tournament after the season had already started. In total, as many as ten tournaments have raised their prize money compared to last year. The total prize pool for this season’s KLPGA Tour has now grown to approximately 34.6 billion won.
