Jeonnam Province is ramping up comprehensive support for the successful hosting of the 2025 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale by expanding travel packages, strengthening collaboration with the upcoming Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo, and offering mutual discounts on admission tickets. The province is also enhancing support across all areas, including visitor services, operations, and publicity.

This initiative follows Governor Kim Yungrok's recent directive at the Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale progress report meeting, where he instructed that support should not be limited to the responsible department alone, but that all relevant departments should actively participate under the leadership of the Vice Governor to devise robust support measures.

In response, Jeonnam Province has launched a task force dedicated to supporting the successful hosting of the 2025 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale. On August 25, a focused discussion on support plans for each sector was held in the Jeong Yak-yong Room at the provincial office, chaired by Vice Governor Myung Changhwan and attended by the Director of the Cultural Prosperity Bureau and the heads of eight related departments.

To attract more tourists to the Sumukh Biennale, the province plans to expand the "Namdo Han Baqui" travel package, which includes stops at the exhibition halls. Additional measures include a 50% mutual discount on admission tickets with the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo to be held in October, joint publicity and marketing efforts, and the operation of shared convenience zones to maximize synergy between the events.

To further boost attendance at the Sumukh Biennale, the province will actively promote group visits through local community associations and alumni groups, support field trips for elementary, middle, and high school students in cooperation with the Office of Education, and operate on-site university programs in connection with the Jeonnam RISE project.

Other planned initiatives include strengthening hospitality and hygiene training for food and lodging businesses in the regions hosting the exhibition halls, fully utilizing the province's promotional infrastructure, and offering discounts on KTX train fares.

Vice Governor Myung Changhwan stated, "For its fourth edition, the Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale will see a significant increase in overseas artist participation, exceeding 40%, and will feature a large number of works by renowned artists from Korea and abroad. As the only event of its kind in the world, the Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale will greatly contribute to promoting the identity of Namdo ink painting and establishing a foundation for K-Sumukh. Let us actively cooperate and provide support to ensure its success."

The 2025 Jeonnam International Sumukh Biennale will be held from August 30 to October 31 at six exhibition venues: Gosan Yun Seondo Museum and Ttangkkeut Pilgrimage Literature Museum in the Haenam area; Sojeon Museum of Art and Namdo Traditional Art Museum in the Jindo area; and the Culture & Arts Center and Indoor Gymnasium in the Mokpo area. The event will feature 83 artists from 20 countries.

In addition to the Sumukh Biennale, Jeonnam Province will also host a series of mega-events in October, including the Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo and the International Agricultural Expo.

The 2025 Namdo International Gastronomy Industry Expo will be held from October 1 to 26 at the Mokpo Culture & Arts Center. As Korea's first international event themed around gastronomy, it will showcase the value and industrial potential of Namdo cuisine. More details are available on the official expo website.

The 2025 International Agricultural Expo, under the theme "Agriculture Changes the World: Agricultural Innovation with AI, Nurturing Life through K-Agriculture," will take place from October 23 to 29 at the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services.
