"Wow! Are There Really This Many Germs in My Mouth?" Haenam Children Experience 'Mouth Exploration'

Haenam County Launches
"Mouth Exploration Experience Class"
to Foster Healthy Oral Habits in Preschoolers

Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced on August 25 that it will officially launch an experiential educational program designed to help preschool children develop healthy oral hygiene habits.

According to the county, starting from this day, the "Mouth Exploration Experience Class" is being held in the education room of the Oral Health Center on the first floor of the Public Health Center. This program was created to raise awareness among children about the importance of oral health and to help them establish proper oral hygiene habits.

The experience class is conducted in a hands-on format that combines practical exercises and education tailored to the children's level. The program includes activities such as observing bacteria in their own mouths, experiencing the role of a dentist, educational videos, and fluoride varnish application, allowing children to learn about oral health in an engaging and enjoyable way.

In particular, during the "Observing Bacteria in My Mouth" activity, children can use a microscope to see the bacteria in their own mouths, helping them understand the necessity of brushing their teeth. The "Dentist Experience" corner allows children to wear a gown and use dental tools, helping to reduce their fear of dental visits and make them feel more comfortable. According to last year's results, a total of 367 children participated in 22 sessions, receiving a highly positive response.

The "Mouth Exploration Experience Class" is held by reservation every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10 a.m. in the education room of the Oral Health Center on the first floor of Haenam County Public Health Center. Applications for participation can be made by calling or emailing the Oral Health Office at the Haenam County Public Health Center.

A county official stated, "We expect that through this experience class, children will develop independent brushing habits and form a positive attitude toward oral care," adding, "We will continue to provide a variety of programs to promote oral health in the future."
