"Likely Indictment as Early as Friday After One More Summons"
Geonjin Bopsa Mostly Denies Allegations
Complainant Questioning Includes Jung Chunseng of the Innovation Party for the Fatherland
It has been determined that Kim Gunhee, wife of former President Yoon Sukyeol, continued to exercise her right to remain silent during her fourth interrogation after being detained by the special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki on August 25. The special prosecutor's team is expected to indict Kim while she remains in custody as early as August 29.

At a regular press briefing that afternoon, Deputy Special Prosecutor Park Sangjin stated, "Kim Gunhee appeared for questioning at 10 a.m. and is currently under investigation," adding, "She is generally exercising her right to remain silent."
Since her detention on August 12, Kim has been summoned by the special prosecutor's team on August 14, 18, and 21 to be questioned regarding allegations of Myung Taegyun's involvement in candidate nominations, the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case, and suspicions of influence peddling involving Geonjin Bopsa and the Unification Church. However, she has mostly refused to make statements.
The special prosecutor's team is expected to summon Kim one more time before indicting her while she remains in custody. Deputy Special Prosecutor Park said, "We believe there is a need to summon Kim once more this week," and added, "Since the detention period expires this Sunday (the 31st), she must be indicted before then. We are currently considering Friday (the 29th) as the likely date for indictment."
Meanwhile, the special prosecutor's team also summoned Jeon Seongbae, known as Geonjin Bopsa, who is considered a key link between Kim Gunhee and the Unification Church, for questioning on the same day. It is reported that during the morning session, Jeon did not exercise his right to remain silent and generally denied the allegations.
Deputy Special Prosecutor Park stated, "Since this is Jeon's first interrogation after his detention, we are asking all the basic questions, and we plan to summon him again to address any matters not covered in today's session."
Jeon was detained on August 21 on charges of aggravated bribery under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and violations of the Political Funds Act. He is accused of receiving luxury goods from the Unification Church as gifts for Kim Gunhee between April and August 2022 and relaying various business and personnel requests.
'Investigation into Yoon's False Statements on Deutsche Motors and Mother-in-Law Gains Momentum'
Additionally, on the same day, the special prosecutor's team began a full-scale investigation into suspicions that former President Yoon Sukyeol made false statements in violation of the Public Official Election Act. At 2 p.m., the team summoned Assemblyman Jeong Chunseng of the Progressive Party and attorney Seo Sangbeom, who serves as the party's legal committee chair, as complainants.
Earlier, in April, the Progressive Party filed a complaint with the police, alleging that former President Yoon made false statements regarding Kim Gunhee's alleged involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case and his mother-in-law's forged bank balance certificate case. The special prosecutor's team later took over the case.
The complaint also includes allegations that Yoon made false statements regarding his mother-in-law, Choi Eunsun. In May 2021, former Presidential Chief of Staff Jeong Jinseok conveyed that "former President Yoon said, 'Although my mother-in-law has been scammed before, she has never caused anyone even a single cent of harm.'"
