First Supplementary Budget Exceeds 1 Trillion Won
Focus on Wildfire Recovery, Youth, and Child Policies
On August 25, the Uiseong County Council in Gyeongbuk opened its 283rd extraordinary session, commencing a nine-day legislative schedule. During this session, the council will review supplementary budget proposals and ordinance bills to address key county administration issues.
This year's fourth supplementary budget proposal totals 1.1252 trillion won, an increase of 135 billion won (13.63%) compared to the original budget, marking the first time in Uiseong County's history that the budget has surpassed 1 trillion won. The increased funds will be allocated to wildfire damage restoration, expansion of disaster response infrastructure, and projects to improve the living environment.
During the five-minute free speech at the opening ceremony, Assemblyman Lee Kyungwon proposed expanding the youth age range to 49 in relation to the "Uiseong County Basic Ordinance on Youth Development." Assemblywoman Park Sunhee called for elevating child policy from simple welfare to a core county administration strategy, urging the creation of a child-friendly city.
Additionally, the Administrative Welfare Committee reviewed the full amendment of the Regional Informatization Ordinance and the public property management plan, while the Industrial Construction Committee deliberated on the amendment to the Inland Fisheries Coordination Council and the support plan for special guarantees for small business owners.
Chairman Choi Hunsik emphasized, "This extraordinary session is especially meaningful as it deals with budgets and bills directly related to the lives of county residents. We will do our utmost to ensure that policies with tangible benefits for residents are realized."
