Capacity Building Training Program for Rwanda’s Green Mobility Officials
Focusing on Electric Vehicle Technology, Infrastructure, and Practical Field Experience
Shinhan University (President Kang Sungjong) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on August 23 that they are conducting the '2025 Rwanda Green Mobility Maintenance and Operations Management Capacity Building Training Program' from August 17 to 30.
This program is part of KOICA's Global Invitation Training Project, which aims to support the economic and social development of developing countries by sharing Korea's development experience and technological expertise.
The 'Rwanda Green Mobility Maintenance and Operations Management Capacity Building Project' will be implemented in phases over three years, from 2025 to 2027. Participants in this training include officials from the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure and Kigali City Hall, as well as automotive engineers and technicians. Through technical education tailored to local industry needs, the program is expected to contribute to the establishment of sustainable transportation infrastructure in Rwanda and improve public access to environmentally friendly transportation services.
This year's program will focus on several key topics: global trends in electric vehicle technology development, the establishment of green mobility infrastructure and support policies, electric bus charging systems, and strategies for developing standard models for electric buses. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to visit Korea's electric bus infrastructure and the Advanced Automobile Inspection Research Center, and will engage in group discussions by topic to seek practical solutions that can be applied locally.
Han Sangwook, professor at Shinhan University's Department of Future Automotive Engineering and head of this training project, stated, "Based on Shinhan University's experience with ODA projects, we will focus on enhancing the operational management capabilities of officials from the Rwandan Ministry of Infrastructure and Kigali City Hall by combining practical training with field visits." He added, "I hope this training program will greatly contribute to the expansion of green mobility services and the establishment of an eco-friendly transportation system in Rwanda."
