Sex Offender in His 40s Damages Electronic Ankle Bracelet and Flees... Public Wanted Notice Issued

A sex offender in his 40s, who was under probation by the Ministry of Justice, damaged his location-tracking electronic device (electronic ankle bracelet) and fled, prompting authorities to issue a public wanted notice.

According to the Ministry of Justice and the Cheongju Probation Office on August 23, A (46), who was under probation, damaged his electronic ankle bracelet and escaped at around 6:41 p.m. the previous day in Cheokbuk-ri, Namimyeon, Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. After fleeing, A traveled to Jinju, Gimhae, and Busan, and is currently missing.

A is approximately 180 cm tall and weighs about 70 kg. He has short bangs, pronounced double eyelids, and a slim build. After escaping, he was confirmed to be wearing a dark-colored cap and matching top and bottom, and was carrying a large plastic shopping bag with a cat character illustration. He does not have a car, so he uses public transportation such as taxis or buses to get around. He is also known for his smiling expression and somewhat awkward way of speaking.

The Cheongju Probation Office has issued a public wanted notice for A and is accepting tips. Reports can also be made to the police.
