Emergency Management Meeting Led by Vice President Jung Jungrae
"We Will Reestablish Safety at Railway Worksites"

On the afternoon of August 22, Korail (Korea Railroad Corporation) held an emergency management meeting at its Daejeon headquarters video conference room, bringing together branch managers from across the country to discuss strengthening safety management in response to the fatal accident involving the Mugunghwa train in Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province.

With the dismissal of former President Han Moonhee having been approved, the meeting was chaired by Korail Vice President Jung Jungrae. Former President Han expressed his sense of responsibility for the accident and tendered his resignation to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which was accepted effective that day.

Korail Vice President Jung Jungrae stated, "I deeply apologize for the concern caused to the public by the fatal accident involving our workers," and added, "We will concentrate all the capabilities of our executives and staff to reestablish safety at railway worksites."
