Comedian Park Mison has recently suspended all broadcasting activities, and it has been revealed that she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.
According to the broadcasting industry on August 22, Park Mison was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer during a health checkup earlier this year and began treatment. She has completed all radiation therapy and is currently continuing with medication. Earlier this year, a representative from her agency, Cube Entertainment, stated, "Park Mison is taking a break for health reasons. We understand that it is not a serious situation."
Previously, her husband Lee Bongwon appeared on the MBC variety show "Radio Star" in June and mentioned, "She is receiving good treatment and resting. She is taking this opportunity to recharge." Fellow comedian Jo Hyeryeon also sent a message of support on MBC Radio, saying, "I pray for her every single day." Comedian Lee Kyungshil expressed her wishes for a speedy recovery through social media, saying, "I made watermelon kimchi because I miss you. Many people are praying for you, so please don't feel lonely and just focus on your health."
While early detection is advantageous for treating most cancers, the prognosis for breast cancer in particular varies greatly depending on the stage at which it is found. If detected at stage 1, the five-year survival rate is approximately 98%.
Meanwhile, Park Mison debuted as an MBC comedian in 1988, and in 1993, she married KBS comedian Lee Bongwon. They have one son and one daughter.
