Soonchunhyang University announced on August 22 that it has been selected for the University Basic Research Institute Support Project (G-LAMP), organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, and will receive 25 billion KRW in government funding over the next five years starting in September.

In addition, the university will operate a total research fund of 26 billion KRW, including 500 million KRW from the university's own funds, 450 million KRW from South Chungcheong Province, and 50 million KRW from Asan City, as matching funds.

Accordingly, Soonchunhyang University will actively promote large-scale, interdisciplinary research in the field of DNA and RNA molecular biology.

The research will be led by the Institute for Molecular Metabolism Innovation (Director: Professor Seo Nayoung), with participation from new full-time faculty members and postdoctoral researchers, who will collaborate across departments and focus on studies of molecular metabolic mechanisms and modeling.

The university will also establish a global research network through collaboration with leading overseas research institutions.

President Song Byungkook stated, "With this selection, Soonchunhyang University will achieve world-class results in the field of DNA and RNA molecular biology and will emerge as a global research hub leading basic science and convergence research in medical and bio fields."
