Gyeonggi Province to Hold Self-Discovery Program for Young Adults Preparing for Independence in Jeju

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will hold the program "Walk GO, Find GO, Meet Myself!" from August 23 to 25 in Jeju Island for 30 young adults preparing for independence in the province. The program aims to help participants discover themselves and build mutual support systems.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government explained that this program was organized in consideration of the difficulties young people face in forming emotional support networks after leaving protective care and starting to live independently.

Hosted by the Gyeonggi Independence Support Agency, the program includes walking along the Olle Trail for self-discovery, as well as various emotional recovery and experiential activities such as cultural and artistic experiences to boost self-esteem and foster a positive outlook on the future.

Additionally, by sharing experiences and memories with one another, participants will work to restore their sense of social belonging, alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness through peer encouragement and support, and ultimately form networks that enable them to support each other.

Kwon Moonju, Director of Child Care at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "We designed this program to minimize isolation and disconnection for young adults preparing for independence as they transition into society, and to provide them with a communal experience for shared growth. We hope that this event will serve as a starting point for the development of ongoing networks and emotional support systems."
