Korail announced on the 21st that Han Moonhee, President of Korail, has expressed his intention to resign, taking responsibility for the accident involving workers on the Gyeongbu Line between Namseonghyeon and Cheongdo.


President Han stated at the accident site, "I deeply apologize to the bereaved families and the public for the railway workers' accident, and I feel a heavy sense of responsibility."


Korail said, "We will do our utmost to support the bereaved families and the injured, and will actively cooperate with relevant authorities to thoroughly determine the cause of the accident. We will also establish fundamental measures to prevent similar accidents from recurring."
