The district plans to pair members of the local Community Welfare Council one-on-one with coupon recipients to help them easily select and purchase the items they need.
In addition, Good Coupons are issued using sponsorship funds from "Good Stores" that regularly donate at least 30,000 won per month. Each resident experiencing financial hardship receives 100,000 won in support, which can be freely used at registered Good Stores in the district, including restaurants and marts.
This year, the district plans to issue Good Coupons worth a total of 350 million won, providing 100,000 won each to 3,500 residents, and is working to further activate Good Stores in the Yangdong Traditional Market.
Previously, last month, the district held the "Gwangju No. 1 Good Street Proclamation Ceremony" at Yangdong Traditional Market and, to commemorate the event, issued Good Coupons worth 7.2 million won to 72 low-income individuals. Ahead of the Chuseok holiday next month, the district plans to select 620 recipients and issue Good Coupons worth 62 million won as part of a "Chuseok Special."
Kim Ikang, head of the district office, stated, "The Good Coupon initiative, which supports both the local economy and welfare care, is driving warm changes in Seo-gu as a Good City," adding, "We will continue to pursue a balance between comprehensive welfare and the revitalization of neighborhood businesses."
