Dalseo-gu, Daegu (District Mayor Lee Taehun) announced on the 21st that, in response to an aging society and to create a dementia-friendly community where residents can live with peace of mind, it has designated two permanent rental apartment complexes in the Dalseo area (Wolseong Jugong Complex 2 and Seongseo Jugong Complex 3) as pilot sites for the 'Gieok Cheongchun Apartment' initiative and has officially begun operations.
'Gieok Cheongchun Apartment' is a project that establishes a dementia safety network centered on apartment complexes through cooperation between the public and private sectors, enabling seniors with dementia and their families to live without anxiety.
The Dalseo-gu Dementia Relief Center has launched a variety of programs, starting with a resident opinion survey and briefing sessions in March and April, followed by operating a mobile dementia relief center (providing dementia education, screenings, and prevention classes), designating dementia-leading organizations and training dementia partners, as well as conducting awareness campaigns and informational broadcasts.
In particular, with the active cooperation of the Housing Management Corporation’s Wolseong 2 and Seongseo 3 management offices, an operations committee has been formed that includes local administrative welfare centers, police substations, welfare centers, nearby businesses, and community leaders, in order to create a sustainable dementia safety network.
Lee Taehun, Mayor of Dalseo-gu, Daegu, stated, "Gieok Cheongchun Apartment is more than just a welfare project; it is the starting point for changing perceptions about dementia and restoring the community," and added, "We will ensure the successful establishment of this pilot project and expand it to other permanent rental apartments in the future."
